Myanmar Earthquake and Southeast Asia Impact

On Friday, 28 March 2025, at approximately 5:20pm AEDT, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar and surrounding regions including Vietnam and Thailand, followed shortly after by a 6.4 magnitude aftershock.

A state of emergency has been declared in multiple regions, with rescue operations commencing, along with efforts to provide humanitarian aid. As a result of the damage, disruption to travel and tourism services is anticipated.

Policies purchased after 6:00pm, 28 March 2025, AEDT will not provide cover for losses arising from this event as it is now widely reported in the media.

This does not impact cover provided by policies purchased prior to this time, subject to the terms of the policy.

How does this event affect your cover
